Can I get reviews for my venue?
How to ask for reviews
The best time to ask is right after a successful event, when the client is happiest. Send a friendly email or text with a direct link to your Google Business Profile or other review sites. Make it easy—one click is ideal.
You can also ask in person at the end of the event, but follow up with a link. Consider offering a small thank-you, like a discount on a future booking, for leaving a review, but never pay for positive reviews.
- Ask within a week after the event.
- Provide a direct link to the review site.
- Thank them regardless of whether they leave a review.
- Respond to all reviews, positive and negative.
Where to get reviews
Google Business Profile is the most important for local search. Also ask for reviews on platforms relevant to your niche, like WeddingWire for weddings or Eventective for general events. Some platforms require a subscription to display reviews.
Display reviews on your website. A dedicated testimonials page or a widget that pulls in recent reviews can reassure potential clients.
- Google Business Profile (free and high impact).
- Industry-specific sites (WeddingWire, The Knot, etc.).
- Facebook recommendations.
- Your own website testimonials page.
Common mistakes
- Not asking for reviews because you assume clients will leave them voluntarily.
- Ignoring negative reviews instead of responding professionally and learning from them.
- Offering incentives for positive reviews, which violates the terms of many review platforms.
